I think you will agree that we’re all feeling like Rapunzel more than ever right now, with the current coronavirus pandemic which is affecting everyone across the world. We’re all facing uncertainty and tremendous change which I know can be very unsettling but I like to consider my blog an escape for myself and for you reading this because I know life isn’t always a fairytale and if I can I will always find a way to sprinkle a bit more magic.

This is a safe place that I’ve created for our rose tinted daydreams and remind us to be appreciative of the little things that make us smile. I’ve put together this post sharing some of the things I’ve been doing during ‘self isolation’ that makes me feel like a princess. I was inspired by Disney princesses because they show resilience, optimism, courage and hope even through the most challenging of times so here are some girly things you can carry out in the comfort of your home which will hopefully help you like they have me.

Royal~Tea

Ohh to be back sipping on cute drinks and eating sweet treats at our beloved pretty pink places like Peggy Porschen and Ladurée to name a few so why not host your own lavish little tea party at home, it’s a sure way to make you feel like a modern day Marie Antionette!

Think dainty cakes like these fondant fancies that I ordered from Betty’s Tea Room served on your favourite most fanciful cake plate, I’m a little in love with my new Disney Marie plate and of course you need to drink your most special tea in one of your most darling teacups. I chose this Marie Antoinette Tea of course which is from Ladurée and comes housed in such special packaging decorated with a whimsical rosebud design and is described as being reminiscent of a sun-drenched stroll through Marie-Antoinette’s estate at Versailles, with a blend of Chinese black tea, rose petals, citrus fruits and honey *sigh* how dreamy.

Cherry Blossom Dreaming

Channel your inner Briar Rose and find peace and tranquillity amongst nature because that’s often where fairytales are found. Luckily where I live is very quiet, seeing the deers browsing the field opposite our home, going on my allocated walk with my soulmate by the river whilst watching the swans gracefully glide over the water and admiring the magical cherry blossoms trees. The beauty of the blossom trees is fleeting and only with us for such a short period of time so I have to try and enjoy them to the fullest, they are also the perfect reminder that just like the blossoms appear every Spring happier times will bloom again. They really are nature’s cotton candy with the soft clouds of pink petals that have a faint, sweet almost vanilla aroma. Blossom trees will always be one of my favourite things about Spring, transporting me to nostalgic memories from my childhood and the place where fairies are born.

Fairytale Treasures

A princess loves to surround themselves with magical treasures that speak to their heart and once upon a dream the three good fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather waved their magic wands and created the most enchanting collection in all the land so all the Sleeping Beauty’s of the world could awake from their slumber feeling like a royal princess and make all their fairytale wishes come true! Aurora is one of my most cherished Disney princesses so when Besame Cosmetics released their beautiful 1959 Sleeping Beauty makeup range I instantly fell in love and treated myself to the complete limited edition collection. My photos above show just two of the products which are the Briar Rose Blush palette and Aurora’s translucent powder.

Dream About Paris

My heart is often longing for Paris so when you can’t fly to the city of love by plane why not bring Paris to you using the wonders of your imagination! Audrey Hepburn movies always make me happy, I would recommend watching Sabrina and Funny Face if you want to be whisked away to Paris! Listen to ‘La Vie En Rose‘ and dance, drink wine and cook in the kitchen with your love, we recently made homemade pizza’s which was so much fun. After watching some Audrey movies you could create a dreamy vision board filled with Parisian inspiration.

Wake up like a princess and enjoy breakfast in bed or better yet dessert in bed, treat yourself to a box of  Ladurée Macarons because you can still order some online or why not have croissants or French toast. Now is also the time to practice your French or learn a new creative skill, I’ve been practicing watercolour painting which I’ve been really enjoying, it’s so calming and I love the movement of the paint combined with the romantic softer results I can achieve, it also makes me feel closer to my grandad who was very talented when it came to using watercolour paints. I also adore the artist Megan Hess, her fanciful couture illustrations always inspire me as they’re so beautifully elegant and feminine, her book Elegance The Beauty of French Fashion is an absolute delight for my eyes.

Pampered Princess

Pampering your royal within is so important, a moment of bliss and self care can be the ultimate pick me up, so take the time to indulge in your favourite most luxurious skincare products and spritz your signature scent after are a shower or bath to keep you smelling lovely all day long. I love to keep my skin hydrated and feeling refreshed with some of my favourite skincare products. I start off with cleansing my face with Dior Micellar Mousse followed by Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream and to finish off I use Miss Dior Moisturising Body Milk for angel soft skin.

Bippity Boppity Boo

I don’t know about you but I honestly can’t concentrate and just find things overwhelming if my home isn’t clean and organised! So fluff up the cushions, make your bed and pop open the windows to bring some fresh air inside, reflect on what you’re grateful for, write a to do list, set yourself a small task each day and spritz your favourite room spray, light a Yankee Candle or burn a Wax Melt to get your space feeling fresh and smelling like flowers blossoming in Spring. I always find doing these steps in the morning is such a mood booster and gets me feeling more productive and content.

Since we’re in lockdown and I now have some extra free time on my hands I felt really inspired to create some girly templates for you to fill out on my Instagram stories. I have been blown away by the positive response they recieved which I’m so appreciative for and I’m just honestly so happy that they provided a little bit of an escape and a fun distraction for both you and myself during this strange time.
